Our customers include some of the people we most admire. Most of the aircraft in our charter fleet belong to people who fly occasionally but trust us to manage their aircraft and make it available when they don’t need it. The income from charter flights offsets the cost of ownership.
The owner of a beautiful Citation Encore in our charter fleet is one of those people we admire as well as enjoy working with.
Terry Wall is well known for owning several successful automobile dealerships on Greenville’s “Motor Mile,” including Jaguar, Lexus, Porsche, Toyota and Volvo dealerships. These dealerships were sold to Asbury Automotive Group Inc. in December of 2010. But according to his longtime associate David Watt, Wall and his family have not slowed down in their community activities.
For the past eight years, the From God to You Ministries has provided food and other necessities to the less fortunate residents of Greenville, Anderson, and other local areas; as well as providing donations to the needy in Mexico and Haiti.
This vast enterprise of philanthropy started when Watt, a mechanic at one of the dealerships, approached his boss with an idea. Wall listened as Watt recounted listening to a missionary from Haiti speaking in his church the previous week, and described how missionary work in faraway places was a great thing, but there are homeless people in Greenville living under bridges and in their cars.
They contacted Tom Callahan of Miracle Hill Ministries, who provided some instruction and got them started with 10 loaves of bread. Eight years later, From God to You Ministries of 725 Keith Avenue in Greenville provided 500,000 meals last year. They have a fleet of seven vehicles, including four box trucks, to distribute food and goods to local area churches, charities and food banks, as have come full circle by sending disaster relief supplies to hard-hit areas Mexico and, ironically (given that a Haitian missionary had provided the inspiration for the enterprise) disaster relief supplies to Haiti.
David Watt, now known as “Eveready Watt,” continues to rise at 2:30 a.m. to distribute food and still works as a mechanic.
Terry Wall and his wife have been “personally involved every step of the way “ according to Watt. The Walls personally distribute gift packages at Christmastime that include a sleeping bag, shampoo, toothpaste and other necessities and luxuries to Greenville’s homeless.
Wall has a long history for caring for the spiritual and physical well being of his employees and others.
Back in 1996, Wall made news for hiring the Reverend W. Carey Hedgpeth to serve as a spiritual resource and counselor for the employees of the dealerships and their family members. Wall provided a catered dinner for employees and their families each Tuesday night after Bible study held at the “Pit Stop,” the dealership’s employee cafeteria.
In a time when many business owners were cutting costs, Wall was generously contributing to the welfare of his employees and their families.
Now you know that when you charter a flight on the Citation Encore, you’re in distinguished company!
