I had a phone conversation recently with the flight department of a large corporation. How the conversation progressed and what was said during our brief call has stuck out in my mind ever since. The purpose of the call was to introduce myself and Special Services. The conversation quickly spiraled downward and in the end I was accused of being a “fly by night” operation. I took offense to that statement for many reasons. I have been accused of a lot of things but that has never been one.
What he did not know was:
• Special Services has been flying since 1958
• Each Captain in our organization has over 5,000 flight hours
• Each Captain has been with the company for over 10 years
• Each Captain completes a week of Flight Safety & in house training yearly
• SSC is Wyvern approved
• SSC is Argus Gold certified
• SSC was awarded the NBAA 50 year safe flying award
• SSC pilots have been vetted to fly for the large charter companies
Unfortunately, the conversation was not able to progress much farther. Had he given me the time he probably would not have accused me of being part of an organization that conducts business unscrupulously and I may have gained a customer and a friend. SSC has worked hard to build the credentials and reputation it has achieved to serve our customers. What he did not know was the very standards he expects and requires of his department are the standards our operation far exceeds. In the end there was one common thread that we both could agree. We only want the best for the people we fly on our aircraft.

Wow.
Sounds like these people are a far cry from the great folks that you guys usually do business with – probably a good thing you won’t have to deal with them!
To a person, everybody I’ve talked to about SSC (and that’s a lot of people, believe me!) has commented on what a first-class outfit SSC is.
Don’t let the occasional grouchy weirdo get you down!
