The most common question asked to young people is most likely to be, “What are you going to be when you grow up?” Or maybe, “What are you going to do as a career?”
Unfortunately, many times the answers given fails to be correct largely because of the lack of a sincere self-evaluation based on real guidance and direction. We tend to answer based on a career’s glamour perspective and/or how much money does it pay, without really identifying or considering our natural born talents and abilities.
We are born with natural abilities, weaknesses, and strengths. These are generally developed by our late teens and change very little as we grow older.
Those whom identify and continue developing their natural talents through education, life experiences, and additionally learned/trained related skills tend to do well. They continue to develop and practice what comes natural. This individual accomplishment leads to job career enjoyment, retention, respect, confidence, and competence.
When recognizing and progressively developing our natural abilities, the education obtained, continues building our strengths. When we gain experience by properly and deliberately practicing our abilities and education, the results lead to a higher level of competency and performance.
Our level of competence is measured by performance using other tools like inter-personal and communication skills, based on behavior and personality attributes.
Those who have the natural abilities to work in aviation as an aircraft pilot and/or mechanic, coupled with judgment, discipline, integrity, performs under stress, interpersonal and communication skills, tend to perform responsibly and do well in the aviation work environment. The best aviation personnel are those that have these qualities.
