Looking at the temperature forecast for the week, I realized that Summer is quickly approaching. This is a busy time of year for families as children are taking final exams, attending graduation ceremonies, planning their summer-league sporting events, and parents are coordinating the family vacation! While some families have their routine vacation spot each year, others choose to mix it up. So how do you decide where to go and what to do?
The American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) did a survey and came up with the following list of most popular summer destinations in the U.S.
- Orlando
- Las Vegas
- Los Angeles
- San Francisco
- New York City
- Miami
- San Diego
- Washington D.C.
- Honolulu
- Seattle
This seems to be a well-rounded list of places to go. You have your theme parks, Hollywood stars, beaches, U.S. history, and the tropics. Some may opt for more secluded destinations to avoid the big cities and big crowds with long lines! Wherever your destination this summer, it means making memories that will last a life time, which brings me to my next point, your travel method.
For most families, traveling by airlines is the routine. You have certainly experienced the continued decline in service, with less flights to your destinations, higher prices, long lines to get through security, lost luggage, crowded seating, delays, and of course, you get to experience this with all the other families traveling on vacation. You are exhausted and sometimes frustrated by the time you reach your destination when you are supposed to be having fun!
If you have had enough of the same old routine, I would recommend giving private aviation a try. While the airlines serve hundreds of cities across the country, private aircraft have access to over 5,000 airports across the country, getting you closer to your intended destination and avoiding the congestion of the airline terminals. Think about what it is you value. Is it time, convenience, privacy, security, and safety? You and your family can have access to your own aircraft, airborne within 10 minutes of your arrival at the airport, going directly to your destination. Travel on your schedule, not when the airlines tell you to.
